Did you know that just by eating certain foods you can help to turbo-charge your metabolism?
Fortunately, there are a few foods out there that can directly affect your body’s ability to burn more calories.
Curious what they are?
Then read on to find out five of the best metabolism-boosting foods for weight loss.
Metabolism Boosting Food 1 – Fish
Fish has always been known as a healthy alternative for pork and beef.
And why shouldn’t it be?
It contains lower amounts of calories and unhealthy saturated fat.
What’s more, it’s an all-natural source of Omega-3, which is beneficial in the fight against obesity.
Now, researchers also linked fish consumption with weight loss. In one short study, 324 young overweight adults (between 20 to 40 years of age) were randomly assigned into 4 different groups:
Group 1 was on a no-seafood diet and took non-marine-based supplements.
Group 2 ate cod (150 grams) thrice a week.
Group 3 ate salmon (150 grams) also thrice a week.
Finally, Group 4 was also on a no-seafood diet and took Omega-3 fatty acid supplements.
Amazingly, the results showed that groups 2, 3, and 4 lost more weight, around 1 kilogram, after a month than group 1.
Metabolism Boosting Food 2 – Soy
Whether you find it tasty or not, the fact still remains that soy is one of your bets for losing weight.
One randomized clinical trial found out that a soy-based meal plan was responsible for reducing their test subjects’ weight by 7 kilograms (compared to the 2.9-kilogram weight reduction of the control group)!
How did this happen?
Well, the weight-loss mechanism of soy is still a little fuzzy for many scientists.
However, there are possible explanations offered.
According to the results of a study done by the University of Illinois scientists, lab rats that were injected with soy hydrolysates thrice per week for two weeks didn’t lost weight because they ate less. They lost weight because their metabolism was increased.
Foods rich in soy are edamame, soy nuts, tofu, soymilk, tempeh, and miso.
Metabolism Boosting Food 3 – Dairy
Belly fat is probably the toughest thing to get rid of… Agree?
Don’t worry. Dairy products are here to rescue us.
Our lovely researcher friends found out that a diet that’s highly rich in calcium and dairy products result to weight loss, especially around the belly area. But, if you want to lose more body weight and fats, you should include more dairy products in your diet plan.
Dairy products, such as butter, cheese, milk, and yogurt, are effective weight loss aid because they contain whey. Whey is a type of protein that’s praised for its ability to promote muscle development, which is a great tool for burning more calories even at rest.
And since it contains protein, they also have the ability to make you feel fuller, thus reducing the chances of your raiding the fridge every now and then.
Metabolism Boosting Food 4 – Beef
Surprised? Admittedly, it’s hardly the type of advice you’ll usually hear from nutrition experts.
But this is not just some marketing strategy or a hoax.
Beef and other lean red meats are actually great additions to your weight loss diet regimen.
However, I’m not just talking about any kind of meat, okay? It should be grass-fed. Meat from grass-fed animals is packed with Omega-3s and linoleic acid, which is believed to highly reduce body fat mass in humans. And, of course, beef is also a rich source of protein that’s important for building calorie-burning muscles.
Metabolism Boosting Food 5 – Corn Bran
Corn bran is actually a product that’s derived from the tough outer shell of corn. It’s a rich source of dietary fiber. (One-hundred grams of corn bran contains around seventy-nine grams of dietary fiber.)
As we all know, fiber cleanses your digestive tract for better nutrient absorption, lowers risk for heart problems and diabetes, and—drum roll, please—maintain a healthy weight!
Increased intake of barley, wheat berries, farro, and other whole grain products is a great way to become slim and sexy. But, a study revealed that if you want to further increase your chances of losing more weight in the long run, add more bran in your diet. Excited?
Right now, I’m sure you’re itching to turn off your computer, ran out of your house, and raid the nearest grocery store for these metabolism-boosting foods.
But don’t forget – that these foods won’t work if you don’t regularly exercise, get enough rest, eat a well-balanced diet and get rid of self-limiting beliefs.
